JUST JIMMY (2001) 01:52:00, single channel

Just Jimmy takes Hitchcock’s Rear Window and systematically strips out every shot but those containing only Jimmy Stewart. The removed images are replaced with black, while the audio is left untouched. The piece runs in real time for one hour fifty two minutes, playing as a visual checkerboard, with long stretches of black broken by a now seemingly schizophrenic Stewart: looking, seeing, reacting, and conversing with the darkness.

Just Jimmy was originally presented as part of the Time Forms exhibition at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA), La Jolla, CA.
